Crying For the Children

In Uncategorized on January 4, 2013 at 8:47 am

Of course I cried when I watched this. It deeply saddens me when I hear of any child that suffers, Last night I read a book called “Cry Silent Tears” by Joe Peters with Andrew Crofts. It is the true story of a little boy who is physically, mentally and sexually abused by his family. Joe went on to become an advocate for abused and sexually exploited children. This book put meet through a full range of emotions from horror and disgust tot he other end of the spectrum where I felt pride and love for this amazingly strong boy.
The saddest fact I took away from the book is that most children that are prostituted to strangers are sold to then my family and caregivers. Sickening.
Sung-Bong is another example of a young man who has faced enormous personal challenges and persevered. I can’t even begin to describe how stories like this effect me. May God be with them and all children that face such horrors. Here is a poem by Antwone Fisher. He is another boy that lived a life of abuse
Who Will Cry For the Little Boy?
Who will cry for the little boy, lost and all alone?
Who will cry for the little boy, abandoned without his own?
Who will cry for the little boy? He cried himself to sleep.
Who will cry for the little boy? He never had for keeps.
Who will cry for the little boy? He walked the burning sand.
Who will cry for the little boy? The boy inside the man.
Who will cry for the little boy? Who knows well hurt and pain.
Who will cry for the little boy? He died and died again.
Who will cry for the little boy? A good boy he tried to be.
Who will cry for the little boy, who cries inside of me?”
– Antwone Fisher
